Job Description - EXPIRED

Project Manager - Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Drivetrains

I have an exciting opportunity for a project manager with experience in an automotive consultancy or supply chain to support blue-chip customers with design and development projects. Whilst a significant portion of business is in the automotive sector, the role would also offer the opportunity to work across major projects in aerospace, renewable energy and rail applications.

My client is a market-leader in technology development for the design and simulation of rotating machinery with offices all over the world. My client is working with and developing world’s leading software for gearbox and drivetrain engineering.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Technical & commercial project delivery and balancing multiple projects
  • Delivering high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Technical & commercial decision making (with the support of the team) to achieve project targets
  • Negotiating with and managing suppliers
  • Planning and organising projects resources
  • Leading multidisciplinary project teams
  • Writing and negotiating project change requests
  • Organising and chairing professional customer meetings, on-site, at our HQ or online
  • Understanding the customer’s technical needs during the sales process and formulating a scope of work that adds value for our customers and us
  • Assessing the technical and commercial risk of projects during the sales process (and managing risks during project execution)
  • Creating & reviewing proposals and costings for new projects
  • Developing agreements with suppliers
  • Working with our business systems team to define requirements for improved use of our project management tools

Successful candidate needs to have:

  • A strong technical background (ideally gained in development projects) such that you can communicate effectively with our customers and suppliers and lead the internal project team.
  • Demonstrable project management success
  • Knowledge of typical product development processes used by Automotive tier 1 suppliers & vehicle OEM’s
  • Willingness to learn both new project management skills and technical skills
  • Fluency in English - further language skills beneficial, particularly German
  • An enthusiasm for working with customers, suppliers and staff from around the world,
  • An ability to work under time pressure and balance multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated customer-facing success in a technical environment
  • The ability to travel within Europe for short trips approximately once a month, and occasional longer worldwide trips
