Production Engineer in Burnley

Role overview

My client is one of the UK’s most advanced, vertically integrated precision engineering companies. You will be working in their modern manufacturing operation which is spread over 9,200 square metres. We are looking for a Production Engineer who enjoys working as part of a team to help realise our growth plans.

As a Production Engineer, you will be expected to fully support the manufacturing operation throughout the product lifecycle; launch of new products, maintaining existing production processes and identifying and implementing process improvements.  You will work in conjunction with the onsite Technical teams to effectively and efficiently productionise all product design and development opportunities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Production and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and test plans to support the introduction of new products into production and support day to day activity.
  • Ergonomic Design and Commissioning Production Cells / work areas
  • Participation in continuous improvement activities inc Poka Yoke
  • Develop cost efficient manual or automated processes whilst monitoring the flow of all product lines identifying line balance issues.
  • Successfully launch products into the manufacturing unit and identify opportunities to reduce costs and maximise efficiencies.
  • Support the Engineering Department with any preparatory work on product manufacturing feasibility.
  • Provide support to Production operatives, particularly during new product launch periods.
  • Work closely with the Engineering team to ensure a smooth transition from application development into full technical design and production.
  • Responsible for planning, commissioning and maintaining production processes, testing products and completing pre-production process trials.
  • Develop performance monitoring of people and processes supported with visual management.
  • Using statistical tools introduce and improve Process Capability to critical processes.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance and Procurement departments to reduce supplier quality issues.

The successful candidate will be educated to HNC or an equivalent level in an Engineering discipline. You will have previous experience working within a precision engineering, CNC metal cutting, and manufacturing environment ideally in the automotive industry. 

•           Professional accreditation with an industry related body would be advantageous

•           Ability to use CAD

•           Ability to design processes and layouts

•           Experience of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis),

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills will be critical to your success in the role.  We’ll also expect you to have the motivation to embrace continuous improvement along with strong communication, project management and interpersonal skills.
