New Product Introduction Engineer - NPI - Precision Engineering

Due to continued growth and new contract wins we are recruiting for an additional New Product Introduction Engineer to be responsible for the management of projects and introduction of new products on time and to budget.

This role requires experience in CNC programming and manufacturing, working to tight tolerances and surface finishes.

You will achieve this through the successful on-time supply of prototype and PPAP samples to customers through effective project management to budget and agreed timescales. You will be liaising with high profile automotive manufacturing clients, our sales team and the manufacturing engineers.

My client is a specialist manufacturer of highly engineered components and assemblies requiring the tightest dimensional tolerances for a range of demanding automotive and specialist engineering applications.


Design the production process to meet the customer specification (capability and TAKT) incorporating SMED and Poke Yoke devices as appropriate.

Creation of stage / process drawings using AutoCAD and also checking / approving stage / process drawings.

Define the capital, tooling, gauging and product cost.

Programme and operation of CNC turning, and grinding machinery

Liaise with development line engineer to ensure samples are manufactured on time and to the required quality standards.

Set up and lead APQP teams for NPI involving all necessary departments inline with AIAG guidelines.

Design using AutoCAD, oversee or outsource design of tooling and gauging.

Create and maintain project / production plans from customer order to production handover.

Liaise and visit customers in UK and abroad to discuss design for manufacture and other design / specification related issues.

Co-ordinate machine trials and confirm process capability.

Ensure that toolcards, standard operating procedures, setting instructions, etc. are created for new products.

Ensure that SAP records are created (routing, bill of materials etc.).

Create APQP documentation.


Minimum of an Engineering HNC/HND or time served engineer with a minimum of 5 years engineering experience ideally in a precision engineering/automotive environment.

Fully conversant with AIAG core tools like APQP, FMEA and PPAP methodologies.

Fully conversant with AutoCAD

A sound understanding of metal cutting machinery. manufacturing techniques and CNC programming.

A thorough understanding of the requirements of the automotive industry

Technically competent and a good project planner / coordinator

Diplomatic, presentable, well mannered, but assertive enough to make things happen
