We are looking for a Junior Production Engineer who enjoys working as part of a team to help realise our growth plans.

Key Accountabilities:

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Junior Production Engineer will be involved with all aspects of that Engineer's daily duties for the customer / products they are associated with.

The Junior Production Engineer will support with the programming, and testing of CNC manufacturing processes, identify possible cost savings and plant improvements. Ensure that appropriate actions are taken and liaise through the sales departments and customers to ensure success.

Minimise the impact of customer issues to the daily operations and actively support the customer specific teams to resolve these in a timely manner.

The Junior Production Engineer will contribute to the creation of competitive costing's.

Create accurate BOM's and technical drawings.

Monitor KPIs and ensure specific targets are achieved and identifying trends and corrective actions and improvements.

As the Junior Production Engineer, you will be responsible for estimating manufacturing labour time for new builds.

You will be supporting the CNC manufacturing operation throughout the product lifecycle; launch of new products, maintaining existing production processes and identifying and implementing process improvements.  You will work in conjunction with the onsite Technical teams to effectively and efficiently productionise all product design and development opportunities.

Key Accountabilities:

Tier One automotive precision components manufacturer.

Main Duties & Tasks:

  • Set and program a range of CNC machines including Turning Centres and Lathes

  • Experience with grinding machines would also be an advantage

  • Experience of working in metal cutting/ engineering and with close tolerances

  • Have a good understanding of CNC programs especially Siemens and Fanuc.

  • Have a working knowledge of robots

  • Be able to train other staff members.

  • Be active in process, efficiencies and quality improvement suggestions.

  • Achieve OEE targets

  • Achieve 5S targets

  • Achieves targets for TPM

  • Meeting production improvement targets

 Personal Profile

  • Minimum of HNC / HND

  • A recognised mechanical apprenticeship with a minimum of 5 years of machining experience or relevant experience in the automotive / Aerospace / precision machining industries is required for this role.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

  • A sound understanding of modern lean manufacturing processes and disciplines.

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment is a must.

  • Experience of working in lean environment in a manufacturing environment.

  • Fully trained and conversant with SPC methodology.

  • Ability to use CAD

  • Ability to design processes and layouts

  • Experience of FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis),

Excellent analytical and problem solving skills will be critical to your success in the role.  We’ll also expect you to have the motivation to embrace continuous improvement along with strong communication, project management and interpersonal skills.
