My client, who provide IT support for businesses nationwide, are looking for an IT Support technician to expand the team they have in their Gateshead branch and to help support their growing customer base with IT needs and services.

THE ROLE:

  • Support a wide range of IT services (whether that be a Password reset or a server that is down!) with a different range of customers (large and small).
  • Based in the Gateshead office but when necessary on customer sites. This may involve overnight stays.
  • Work on IT projects for the customers.
  • Assist with the management, upkeep and enhancement of internal company systems.
  • Assist in the production of quotations for IT projects.
  • Continually enhance knowledge of all relevant IT systems in use.

THE PERSON:

  • Presentable, possess excellent communication skills and hold a customer service mentality.
  • Take pride in providing a quality, helpful service to customers.
  • Be able to work as part of a team as well as being self-motivated
  • It is also ESSENTIAL for the candidate to have a full UK driving licence and have the use of a car during working/on-call hours.
  • Hold a UK degree in an IT related discipline, an equivalent professional qualification or relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING TECHNOLOGIES ARE REQUIRED:

  • Microsoft Windows server operating systems including Small Business Server.
  • Microsoft Windows client operating systems.
  • Microsoft Exchange & general understanding of email.
  • Office 365.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Server virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V, etc).
  • Network Attached Storage (NAS).
  • General networking.
  • TCP/IP and associated technologies (e.g., DNS, WINS, DHCP).
  • Basic understanding of Firewalls including NAT and Firewall rules.
  • Mobile access to business email (eg, MS Exchange) – Android, iPhone, etc.
  • Anti-virus / anti-spyware / anti-spam.
  • Server / system backup solutions including online/Cloud backup.

DESIRED:

  • Storage Area Networks (SANs).
  • Telephony including Voice-over-IP (VoIP).
  • Remote Desktop Services.
  • Cloud services – such as Azure, Amazon Cloud, file sharing (eg, Dropbox), etc.

THE PACKAGE:

  • Annual salary of £21,000 - £27,000 + Quarterly Company Bonus and 5% Pension Scheme.
  • 22 days holiday annually + 8  days statutory. (Leading up to 30 days + 8 Statutory).
  • (Per Rotation: 7:30am - 4:00pm Monday to Friday - 1 Week, 9:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday - 1 Week, 11:30am - 8:00pm Monday to Friday - 1 week, (1 week of the month provide 24x7 on-call service (presently remote only). Services will change over time so they must be flexible and adaptable.
